Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Afaf Salah Abdel-Mohsen, Acting Dean of the Faculty,
and under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Zeinab Hussein Ali, Vice Dean for Environment Development and Community Service,
and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Hassan Mohamady, Head of the Department of Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing,
and with the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doaa Shehata Said, Dr. Sahar Ali Othman, and Dr. Manal Salah Abdel-Halim,
the Department of Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, organized an awareness seminar in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, in collaboration with the Egyptian Foundation for Child Health and Nutrition.
The seminar was held as part of the Faculty’s commitment to supporting public health awareness initiatives and highlighting the critical importance of breastfeeding and its vital role in promoting the health of both mother and child. The event addressed key physical and psychological benefits of breastfeeding, the essential nursing support skills required for mothers, and the correction of common misconceptions surrounding the topic.
The seminar also discussed the latest global recommendations regarding breastfeeding practices and emphasized the role of the nursing team in raising awareness and providing accurate guidance to new mothers.
The event witnessed strong engagement from students, reflecting their awareness of the value of health education and their eagerness to acquire up-to-date scientific knowledge that supports advanced nursing practice.
This seminar comes as part of a series of community activities organized by the Faculty with the aim of promoting family and child health and fostering a culture of breastfeeding as a foundation for better health and a brighter future.
