Awareness Seminar on "Breast Cancer: Prevention and Early Detection" at the Faculty of Nursing-Helwan Univiristy

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. El Sayed Qandil, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Walid El-Sorougi, Vice President for Environmental Development and Community Service, and under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Afaf Salah Abdel Mohsen, Acting Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Zainab Hussein Ali, Vice Dean for Environment Affairs and Community Development, and Dr. Sahar Mahmoud, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit, And as part of Helwan University’s Faculty of Nursing efforts to raise health awareness and promote the culture of disease prevention and early detection, the faculty organized an awareness seminar titled "Breast Cancer: Prevention and Early Detection". The seminar was held in collaboration with Bahiyya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Prof. Dr. Aisha Awad Hall, Ground Floor, Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Tasbeeh Wahba and Dr. Taqa Mohamed from the Health Awareness and Education Team at Bahiyya Foundation, which has extensive experience in supporting women and promoting the culture of early detection in various governorates across Egypt.
The seminar covered several important scientific and humanitarian topics, including:
Introduction to breast cancer and its significance as a public health issue that affects the entire community.
The importance of early detection in increasing survival rates and reducing complications.
A detailed explanation of the correct steps for self-breast examination, with encouragement for women to perform it monthly.
Genetic, environmental factors, and unhealthy lifestyles as potential causes of breast cancer.:
The seminar witnessed outstanding engagement from graduate students and faculty members, with an open discussion and numerous questions reflecting the attendees' interest in the topic. Dr. Tasbeeh Wahba praised the strong interaction from nursing students, emphasizing that health awareness should start within specialized colleges.
