In conjunction with the global "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence," the Maternity and Newborn Health Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, organized an awareness seminar titled Violence Against Women and Its Impact on Reproductive Health. The event was held in cooperation with the Helwan Community Development Foundation (Bashayer), with the aim of raising students’ awareness of the seriousness of violence and its long-term effects on women’s health and well-being.

The seminar witnessed a large attendance from university students and members of the academic community. It addressed the various types of violence, early indicators of exposure to abuse, and the physical, psychological, and reproductive health consequences that can threaten a woman’s future and family life.

The organization of this seminar comes within the framework of the Maternity and Newborn Health Nursing Department’s commitment to promoting reproductive health and spreading awareness of the importance of protecting women—aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 5 (Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment).

The seminar also discussed the role of youth and students in combating violence and promoting a culture of respect and awareness both inside and outside the university. The speakers emphasized the importance of building a supportive community that rejects all forms of abuse and violence.

The event concluded by reaffirming the Faculty of Nursing at Helwan University’s commitment to continuing educational and awareness activities and strengthening cooperation with civil society organizations to protect and empower women.
