Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Walid Al-Seroji, Vice President for Environmental Development and Community Service,
and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Afaf Salah Abdel-Mohsen, Acting Dean of the Faculty,
and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Zeinab Hussein Ali, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development,
and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sahar Mahmoud, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Unit,
and as part of the ongoing efforts of the Faculty of Nursing – Helwan University to promote health awareness and strengthen a culture of disease prevention and early detection,
the Faculty organized an awareness seminar entitled “Breast Cancer: Prevention and Early Detection.”
The seminar was held in collaboration with the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, on Monday, 10 November 2025, in Prof. Dr. Aisha Awad Hall, ground floor, Faculty of Nursing – Helwan University.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Tasbeeh Wahba and Dr. Taqwa Mohamed from the Awareness and Health Education Team at the Baheya Foundation, which has extensive experience in supporting women and promoting a culture of early detection across various governorates of Egypt.
The seminar addressed several important scientific and humanistic themes, including:
An introduction to breast cancer and the importance of awareness as a public health issue affecting society as a whole.
The significance of early detection in increasing recovery rates and reducing complications.
A detailed explanation of the correct steps for breast self-examination, with encouragement for women to perform it monthly.
Genetic and environmental factors, as well as unhealthy lifestyle patterns, as potential causes of breast cancer.
The event witnessed notable attendance and active participation from postgraduate students and faculty members. An open discussion allowed attendees to raise questions that reflected their strong interest in the topic.
Dr. Tasbeeh Wahba also praised the high level of engagement shown by the nursing students, emphasizing that promoting health awareness begins within specialized academic institutions.
