About the Unit

Believing in the importance of awareness and preventive guidance, the Faculty of Nursing – Helwan University has established the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit. Health is a cornerstone of life, and it involves creating preventive health awareness among all segments of society to reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics. This mission is embodied in raising health awareness among students, faculty members, their assistants, and administrative staff within the faculty and other faculties of Helwan University, as well as the local community. The unit seeks to promote a culture of health, prevention, and awareness, to study negative behaviors and phenomena that contribute to the spread of diseases and epidemics in the surrounding community, and to contribute to health promotion in order to improve the overall public health of the local population

Mission of the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit

The Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, is committed to spreading health awareness among community members, promoting a culture of health, prevention, and education, studying negative behaviors and phenomena that contribute to the spread of diseases and epidemics in the surrounding community, and contributing to health promotion to enhance the general health of the local population.

Objectives of the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit

To improve health and preventive awareness among students, faculty members, their assistants, staff within the faculty, other faculties at Helwan University, and the local community.
To correct misconceptions about health and prevention, thereby improving overall community awareness.
To encourage faculty members, their assistants, staff, and students to promote a culture of health awareness within the local community.
To organize seminars, convoys, and workshops that highlight various health issues based on community needs.
To strengthen the role of the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, as a reference point for consultation in areas of health, environment, preventive health, health education, and epidemic awareness for all community groups both inside and outside the campus.
To publish a monthly magazine titled “Health Revolution” dedicated to health education and preventive guidance tailored to the needs of all community groups inside and outside the university campus.

Activities of the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit

The activities of the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University, focus on promoting and raising health and preventive awareness. This is achieved through organizing seminars, workshops, and health convoys to train and educate on the importance of health and disease prevention.

The activities of the unit are concentrated in the following areas:

First: Activating the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit

Preparing the organizational structure of the unit.
Defining the committees of the unit according to the organizational structure.
Specifying the roles of the unit’s committees.
Publicizing the unit and its activities.
Preparing and distributing the unit's guidebook.
Developing and approving the unit’s action plan.

Second: Promoting Health Awareness and Preventive Guidance

Designing and preparing various issues of the magazine “Health Revolution”.
Developing a training plan based on the needs of students, faculty members, staff of the Faculty of Nursing, other faculties at Helwan University, and the local community to promote health awareness and preventive guidance.
Organizing a variety of seminars, workshops, and health convoys in accordance with the unit's plan and the needs of its beneficiaries to promote community health and prevention.
Creating various platforms for effective communication, such as the Awareness and Preventive Guidance Unit – Faculty of Nursing, Helwan University Facebook page, and a WhatsApp group for awareness and guidance.
