Quality Assurance Unit

Establishment of the Unit

The Quality Management Unit is an academically independent unit, administratively affiliated with the Dean of the Faculty, and technically subordinate to the University's Quality Assurance Center. The Unit serves as the organizational entity technically responsible for developing the Faculty's strategy for continuous improvement and accreditation.

Based on Helwan University Council Resolution No. (333) dated 25/2/2007, which approved the establishment of a Quality Assurance Unit in each faculty of the University and emphasized the effort to complete the organizational structure of Quality Assurance Units in alignment with the organizational structure of the University's Quality Assurance Center in all faculties affiliated with Helwan University, the formation of the Faculty's Quality Assurance Unit Board commenced on 15/4/2007. The completion of the board's formation, following the appointment of faculty members, was approved on 10/12/2007.Subsequently, the Faculty's Quality Assurance Unit Board studied the internal regulations pertaining to the Faculty's Quality Assurance Unit. The objective was to formulate internal regulations for the Quality Assurance Unit that align with the internal regulations of the University's Quality Assurance Center and achieve the desired purpose, while also conforming to the University's mission and strategy for quality assurance and achieving accreditation.

The regulations were approved by the Faculty Council in Resolution No. (3) dated 14/12/2008. They were subsequently updated by Faculty Council Resolution No. (91) dated 16/10/2017, and further updated by Faculty Council Resolution No. (148) dated 27/2/2022. The regulations were then reviewed and updated on 27/11/2022.

Vision of the Unit

The Unit aspires to achieve a high level of performance by developing innovative standards that align with nursing sector quality benchmarks. Its goal is to graduate exceptional and effective professionals who are competitive in the local, regional, and global job markets. This is accomplished through a comprehensive and advanced program designed to equip graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to keep pace with developments in the nursing field.

Mission of the Unit

Preparing the Helwan University Faculty of Nursing to meet the demands of the labor market and align with quality standards in nursing and occupational health. This includes continuously advancing the educational process, serving students and the community to fulfill the Faculty's mission, and aligning with its strategy, while striving to prepare the Faculty for accreditation.

Objectives of the Quality Assurance Unit
  • Sustain the application of the Quality Assurance System within the Faculty, in accordance with accreditation standards, through the participation of all targeted groups (leadership, faculty members and their assistants, administrative staff, and students).
  • Enhance community confidence at local and regional levels in the Faculty's educational outcomes (graduates).

  • Support the development of internal academic and administrative systems to meet quality assurance and accreditation requirements, and provide necessary technical support to academic departments.

  • Conduct continuous self-assessment of the Faculty and monitor the implementation of improvement and development plans.

  • Monitor the implementation of the Faculty's strategic plan and ensure the achievement of its objectives.

  • Verify the alignment of the Faculty's scientific research plan with local and national community needs and issues, and expand community engagement initiatives.

  • Maintain continuous communication with graduates and employers, involving them in the development and improvement plans for academic programs and curricula.

  • Develop human capabilities and raise awareness among the Faculty's leadership, faculty members, staff, and students regarding a comprehensive quality assurance culture and the importance of implementing quality and accreditation systems.

  • Establish documented mechanisms to enhance the efficiency of the Faculty's material, financial, and human resources.

  • Measure opinions and evaluate performance for all targeted groups, leveraging feedback to develop necessary improvement plans and corrective actions.

  • Ensure the continuous issuance of annual reports and the fulfillment of supporting documentation for accreditation standards.

  • Qualify the Faculty for institutional and programmatic accreditation.
